At St. Mary's we identify the specific needs of our entire community.
Everyone is to be respected, accepted, valued and encouraged to reach their full potential, therefore at St. Mary's we commit to identifying the specific needs of individuals and use all available resources to assist in their wellbeing.
Central to the mission of St. Mary’s School Rutherglen, is an unequivocal commitment to fostering the dignity, self-esteem and integrity of children and young people and providing them with a safe, supportive and enriching environment to develop spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially.
PBIS (Positive Behaviour Intervention Support)
St. Mary’s Primary School runs a student behaviour program based on the Positive Behaviour Intervention Support (PBIS) program. Our program is based around three simple rules that govern the expectations and behaviour of our school community.
1. Respect Yourself 2. Respect Others 3. Respect Our Environment
School Chaplain
Sister Lucille is our School Chaplain. Sister Lucille provides a vital link for our school, families and students with the parish and wider community in her role of reaching out to families in need, visiting new families to our community and making links with local support agencies: e.g St. Vincent de Paul.
Buddies
As starting school can be a daunting prospect for children, our Foundation students each have a Buddy (a senior student) to help them adjust to their new setting. Buddies are able to provide the support as a trusted friend over the year whilst giving our senior students opportunities to develop their leadership skills.
OH&S
St. Mary's provides a safe workplace for all students, staff and families. We have a comprehensive OH&S policy that ensures we provide for the physical, social and mental well-being of the entire school community.
